Dispel her of course and her ability to change which elemental ability she has will make you not want to use magic anyway. At this point in the game you probably have a solid strategy with Haste / Bravery / Berserk / Protect / Bubble and other positive status effects that you can cast to make this easy. – Sagittarius Zodiak – Shemhazai is weak against fire magic but tanking is your best bet. Still, an easy battle and an Esper that is probably better than Belias but may not be worthy of being used over two of your other characters right now. Towards the end he comes really fast and has no charge times on his attacks so your healing will have to be a step ahead. Of course Ice Shields are even better as it’ll render most of his attacks useless. He (it’s the fish, not the girl in front) likes Blizzaja, but you should like to use Shell. Mateus is near the end, right before the nethicite destroying sword. – Pisces Zodiak – An ice based Esper, fought in the Stilshrine of Miriam. Belias is quite useful early in the game as he is the only esper you’ll have for a good period of time. He is Velius from Final Fantasy Tactics, and you must use Belias in a story related event in The Feywood much later in the game. Have Shell and Protect up, and Berserk your best fighters (tanks) including Vossler. His Firaja Oil attack will leave you in big trouble if you don’t have the Handkerchief’s to get rid of it as he’ll like you up with fire attacks.
The boss fight against Belias is one of the hardest battles you’ll have fought up to that point. – Aries Zodiak – Likely the first esper you’ll acquire, this one in the depths of the Tomb of Raithwall. You will almost certainly have to do some scouting with the initial battle or inform yourself ahead of time. Many esper fights have certain stipulations during the battle that disallow your party to attack, cast magic, use an item, etc. Some (Cuchulainn and Adrammelech come to mind) are available rather early in the game but will rout you until later on. As your summoner gains level and ability so will your esper.Īll that said they aren’t the most useful options in the world but provide some of the toughest challenges in the game. In battle that character can summon that esper and the esper will fight alongside the caster until it runs out of HP or time.
You can then get the license with any character but only that character. After you defeat an Esper through storyline or sidequest play, you will acquire that summon on the License Board. Throughout Final Fantasy XII there are thirteen Espers, or summons.
